At the studio, you will change into samurai armor, then hop into the van and set off on your photo tour! The first location is Togetsukyo Bridge, one of Arashiyama’s two most famous sightseeing spots. Here, you’ll take stunning samurai photos with the majestic mountains and river as your backdrop. Next, you’ll head to the other iconic spot: the Bamboo Forest. No trip to Arashiyama is complete without visiting this must-see location, where you’ll continue your samurai photo shoot in full armor. Finally, the tour concludes at a traditional tea house with over 400 years of history. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, this classic Japanese-style house is the perfect place to relax and refresh. Your tour includes matcha green tea and sweets. On days when the tea house is closed, and for the 08:30–10:30 session, the tea house will not be available. In that case, the plan will include photos at Togetsukyo Bridge and the Bamboo Forest, followed by studio photography back at the studio. SHOGUN STUDIO JAPAN is the only place in Kyoto where you can wear samurai armor and be photographed at these iconic locations! Don’t miss the chance to create unforgettable memories.

Enjoy a 90-minute outdoor sightseeing tour of Arashiyama while wearing authentic samurai armor. There are a few simple rules to follow, but as long as you do, you’ll have a fun and unforgettable experience! Arashiyama offers many scenic spots such as Togetsukyo Bridge and the Bamboo Grove. Strike samurai poses, capture photos with your camera or smartphone, and create one-of-a-kind memories!
How it works:

Our staff will dress you in the armor
Go outside and enjoy sightseeing!
Return to the studio, change, and finish

The experience is limited to outdoors only.
Entry into restaurants, souvenir shops, and other stores is not allowed.
Public transportation cannot be used while wearing the armor.
Any damage will incur a fixed compensation fee.

2. If you're more than 10 minutes late, your reservation may be cancelled automatically, and your slot may be offered to walk-in guests. Please do your best to be on time! If you're running late, just give us a call—we’ll do our best to adjust your time.

Get Your Photos & Movie
If editing is completed on-site, data will be transferred to your smartphone immediately after the session.

If on-site editing isn’t possible, we’ll send you a Google Drive link via email within 24 hours so you can download and enjoy your video.
FAQ
- Should I bring anything with me?
Since you’ll be wearing a kabuto (helmet), your hairstyle may get a bit messy—so it’s a good idea to bring a brush or comb. Also, don’t forget your camera or smartphone! Feel free to snap plenty of photos and videos to capture all the fun memories!
- Can you accommodate tour groups or large parties?
Definitely! We’d appreciate it if you could contact us in advance so we can discuss timing and arrangements. We’re happy to help you create some amazing memories!
- Do you offer service in foreign languages?
We have staff members who can speak English. For other languages, rest assured we’ll assist you using translation apps or similar tools.
